About Us
90th Anniversary
This year, we are proud to celebrate our 90th anniversary! Our journey began in 1935 when a passionate schoolteacher, Dorothy Hall, started a small initiative in her basement with a handful of her friends. Her vision was simple yet powerful: to create a supportive, community-driven financial resource. Over the years, that humble beginning grew into the SunWest Credit Union you know today, serving around 12,000 members with a commitment to service, trust, and financial empowerment. As we reflect on nine decades of growth and progress, we remain inspired by Dorothy's founding spirit and continue to build on her legacy of helping people achieve their financial goals.
SunWest Credit Union
SunWest Credit Union is the oldest credit union in southern Colorado, founded as Pueblo Teachers’ Credit Union in June 1935. From our modest beginnings at the home of one determined school teacher, the credit union now has three branches serving more than 11,000 members.
Not only has SunWest grown, but we’ve kept pace with the services of much larger institutions. SunWest offers convenience features that include all the online and mobile banking services that today’s consumers demand, such as remote deposit and account text alerts. What’s more, we offer great rates and low fees, on top of service like no other!
